Traveler’s Notebook to Way Cool Wallet
Hello there =)
My name is Sarah and I have a notebook/paper/planner problem. There. I said it. Acknowledging you have a problem is the first step to overcoming it. Except I don’t really mind this problem ;)
As I said I mentioned in My Traveler’s Notebook, in the search for a new planner I discovered the traveler’s notebook and all its versatility. I was instantly hooked and currently own 4; none of which had a real purpose. Until now…
Everything happens for a reason. See, I was meant to buy all those notebooks (and want more). Why would this charm lie?

My very first purchase from Baum-kuchen was a black Midori Traveler’s Notebook which has now found its way into my purse as my wallet. I don’t have any notebooks in this leather cover, just series of pockets and folders for money, cards and coupons.
A stick on pocket on the front cover for a grocery list and good reminders. Not completely sold on the pen loop… my favorite pens are a little slim for it and fall out a lot. There are many DIY pen loops out there with elastic and binder clips. When I get around to making one I’ll share it with you =)
The main elastic in my Midori holds an Essential leather zipper case and 12 pocket card holder. I keep cash and gift cards in the front pocket of the Essential.
Credit cards fill up the inner 6 of the 12 pockets. Those fun poppy sleeves protect your cards from identity theft/credit card theft via card scanning devices. (I’d elaborate, but that’s all I really know). Any blank spaces I add a piece of scrapbook paper to glam it up. Plus I don’t want to see the back of cards.
The last 3 pockets have rewards cards and some stamps and address labels.
I keep change, insurance cards and my checks in the zipper pocket.
The smaller elastic of the Midori holds a kraft folder. I glued on a fun honeycomb print paper inside and out.
This is where my coupons and car insurance live =)
Another pocket on the back to finish things off. I tuck a few envelopes here and a fun saying or two.
Of my four traveler’s notebooks, I’m happy to say this one has found it’s purpose and is used regularly. The leather cover, all inserts and pen loop were all purchased at Baum-kuchen. Excellent customer service, I’m constantly making purchases from them. The above items (except the Essential leather zipper case) can be found on Amazon (affiliate link) too.
Do you think you’d like a traveler’s notebook for a wallet?
I’m thinking washi tape could fix your loose pen problem.
Washi tape fixes everything, doesn’t it? I might make a loop. Gives me something else to blog about. =)
what size is that???
The regular Midori Traveler’s notebook size. About 4 1/4 by 8 1/4 inches
Where did you buy the zipper case? I cant find one anywhere?
Hi Diane =) I got my zipper case here:
I’m in the process of converting my traveler’s notebook into a wallet–need to find the proper inserts, though. Thanks for sharing your set-up.
You’re welcome! Have fun setting it up!
