This should make your Monday… doing less could give you more time/things/success…
What the what?
I know, right? Mind blowing.
Have you every heard of the 80/20 rule?
It is an economic/business principle that states that 20% of the time you invest in a project produces 80% of the results. A lot of businesses apply the 80/20 rule in order to skyrocket themselves to the top. So while all tasks do need to be completed, a fifth of them are responsible for the bulk of the results.
So how can we apply this business/economic principle to our daily lives? First we need to understand that the 20% needs to be a FOCUSED 20%. You need to put your all in to it.
Pick a goal, any goal. Got it? Good. Now what steps or tasks need to be completed in order to achieve that goal?
Of those tasks, which one (or two) would yield the most results the fastest? Start with those! Can you improve upon that 20%? Get more in-depth? Streamline the process? Focusing on that 1/5 of efforts should increase results and perhaps reduce the time needed to complete them.
Now, if this is a team goal, can you delegate the rest? That would speed up life wouldn’t it…?
Interested in learning more about this 80/20 rule and how to apply it to your life? A Google search might help.
Or, check out the book The ONE Thing. The author Gary Keller changed the way real estate agents do business with his publications. The great thing about his books is, while they are real estate centered, can be applied to just about any business or goal that needs to be achieved.
The ONE Thing talks about finding the one thing you need to do to give your day the biggest push to be the most successful. Cough, 20%, cough…
